The breaking of the enigma code, and this road are the two most important things about Bletchley. This beautiful village was centre of British code breaking activities during World War Two, an incredible achievement by the men and women who worked under absolute secrecy, helping to shorten the war and save us from a terrible future.
Today was my driving theory test, at which I was late arriving because of the dodgy directions from an internet mapping site. All was well, as the lady at the desk allowed me to sit the test, which I thankfully passed with full marks on the multiple choice and 56/75 on the hazard awareness. After this, I then drove to Aylesbury Street, the first Aylesbury not reached by me on public transport, hopefully not a trend that will continue, according to Mr Prescot.
Aylesbury street is a lovely busy high street with many specialist shops, not the usual recycled comic strip version of high streets that you see in most towns, (Smiths, M+S, McDonalds, Specsavers, Smiths, M+S, McDonalds, Specsavers, Smiths, M+S, McDonalds, Specsavers) instead it had shops like a fancy dress shop, a florists, a fish bar, a celebrations shop, a chiropractors, etc. like older high streets used to have. I have looked at some older maps and have discovered that Aylesbury Street is the old street that went to Aylesbury, so still counts in my list of Aylesburys and is directly related to Aylesbury, but does not go there anymore. Just did a little drive up and down the street and then left to get home as mum and I were hungry.
